How to explain your Sidecar Health coverage to a provider (for non-emergency care scenarios)
Providers who welcome Sidecar Health members enjoy the advantages of getting paid on the spot for care. If your provider hasn’t worked with Sidecar Health before, you can use this script to speak with your doctor or their staff about your plan:
- I am insured as a Sidecar Health member
- Sidecar Health insurance plans are based on an instant pay model
- I will be paying for the visit in full at the time of service using the Sidecar Health VISA benefit card
- My plan lets me see any doctor and pays a fixed amount for any covered medically necessary services called a “Benefit Amount”
- Sidecar Health does not have negotiated networks. No prior authorizations are needed for my visit and there are no copays or coinsurance
- Prior to my visit, I will need to know the cost for my visit or a good faith estimate of the expected care and pricing, so I can know my costs and compare them to my Benefit Amounts ahead of my visit. Here is what to include in the good faith estimate:
- Patient’s full name
- Provider’s name, address and NPI
- Date of service
- Itemized charge amounts
- Procedure codes (CPT/HCPCS)
- Diagnosis codes (ICD-10)
- After my visit, I will pay for the visit in full using the Sidecar Health VISA and ask for a detailed medical invoice (superbill) that I can give to Sidecar Health
